Compare like with like
Write down the wave size, setting, throughput definition and operating assumptions behind each figure. A peak output and an annual average do not answer the same question. If the inputs are missing, treat the comparison as incomplete rather than filling the gap with a guess.
Ask what a claim measures
Energy per generated wave, energy per session and total site energy are different concepts. The same applies to water use, capacity and availability. Ask which parts of the venue are included and whether the result is measured, modelled or based on a proposed operating schedule.
Consider the visitor experience separately
A technical comparison can miss queue management, briefing quality, changing facilities and coaching. Use those as a second set of questions rather than reducing everything to a single score. A system’s theoretical range may be wider than the session menu at one venue.
Keep a traceable research note
Save the source, publication date and assumptions for claims you use. Label manufacturer material as such and seek independent evidence where available. If the comparison remains uncertain, explain exactly which missing information would change your judgement.
